Anyone know if the black tinted style rear lights from a h-reg XR4x4 5 door will fit an 88 3 door?

definitely not. mk1 rear lights wrap around to the rear quarter panel much more than mk2 lights with the indicators.

So an 88 is definately a MK1 then? Or hang on, all three-doors are MK1, right?

i think in the uk, all 3 doors are mk1, but in europe we have 3 doors in mk2 as well don't know if mk2 3 doors were lhd only?

 

as above - they wont fit

 

5 diff types of lights...

1) mk1 lights
2/3) mk2 hatchback lights (orange/smoked)
4/5) mk2 saloon/sapphire lights (orange/smoked)

 

On the very early Mk1 Ghia hatches the rear lights had black lines across the lenses - they dropped that quite quickly though.

These are rare and hard to find. Someone had a set on ebay at £75 but they didn't get a bid at that price.
