thats nothing, my bill has been circa £60 a month for both for the last 3 years, for some reason they've had my wrong emial address so when they've stopped paper billing they've not let me know I needed to increase my d/d - it's gone up from £60 to £186 a month for a 2 up 2 down terrace - WTF? they say my bill for jan and feb was £550 so i'm now £800 in arrears? i was saying with the guy it was nearly that for the whole year last time around how can it be this much for 2 months?? FFS
To say i'm angry is an understatement

I pay all bills through one bill and the Gas had it put up to £80 without even asking me? that cant be right can it? I asked how they were aloud to do it and he says because we sent you a letter telling you whitch I know I didnt get!
My leccy bill went from £80 credit in Auguast to £500 Arrears by December, and when I question it they say because Ive used it, simple, cant argue it or question it???
Its fooked up!

Thought I would win with £1,395.99 electricity from 19/8/08 to 18/2/09
for a 4 bedroom bungalow.
Then realised Tabatha is £274pm against my piddly £233
Thank god I don't have a gas bill to worry about!

my gas and electic bill for the last quarter is £490. As I pay £153 per month for both, meant i had built up a credit of £264, which left me with £226 to pay.
I used to pay £81 per month for gas and electric but it was put up . Yes like everybody else, I was not too happy but I understand that I have used the energy that I have been billed for.
by all means phone up to complain that you are paying £30 more each month but be warned your debt may increase if you revert back to the lesser payment
Build up a credit then you wont get stung when the bill comes through the door.
you have to remember that when you are underpaying on your energy bill, they will normaly put your d/d pyment up to cover the amount you have been paying, an amount to cover for the cost of energy tht you are actually using and an amount to cover the arrears.
If you dont like seeing high energy bills you can change supplier (if you are not in arrears), or simply try and use less energy. does anybody recall when Martin Lewis etc were bleating on about getting a capped or discounted energy tarrif last summer? How many people actually done that? Remember that the energy prices went up last year so you are most likely to have been charged the new tarrifs that came into force. Maybe now some of the suppliers have dropped prices, you should see a difference in your next quarterly bill.
If you have a 1 bed flat and you are paying over the odds then by all means query it.
