Default Cosworth power for 150mph in half a mile?

So, if I want my 3 door to manage to keep up with Rob's astra over half a mile, how much power will I need?

Anyone on here in that sort of ballpark can you let me know what power you have please?

Divide the power of his Astra by it's weight and then multiply by the weight of your 3 door.

Would give you a rough idea, but different drive trains and areodymanics will also come into effect.

Well, i'd imagine they are both about as aerodynamically inefficient as each other. Obviously you'd need some decent tyres if the Astra has had a lot of suspension work done.

To hit 150 in a half a mile in a Cossie will require 450bhp if gearing is correct it would hit close to 170 in the mile & be doing 175ish at 1.5 miles.

Kieth Brooks in PF this month did 169 with 411bhp down Brunters thats what it should do & fits in with what I said above.

presume kevs was quicker due to the 4wd system and not smoking the tyres for the first 3 gears!

No help at all given that you didnt even mention the spec of your car, nor wether that was off a speedo or proper timing gear

PS

If your speedo under reads then you probably went more than a mile though now I think about it

mileage wise was rolling on the speedo from 9 to 0 and 140 speedo is 144 true speed via road angel or tom tom.
i dont know exactly when i got on the brakes but only just stopped with 330 4 pots and 300 rears. id guess i hit the brakes at .6 to .7 miles.

The Monaro should be with mine at the half mile & then pull away so if you said 182 at the half mile that would be what a 1000bhp should do & on to 215+ in the full straight.

Kieth brooks not the lad with the white saf that used to run when I ran my rsturbo? he did exactly 169.9 with 400bhp. I recall him trying very hard to get into the 170's... He still at it?!

by my calculation 4 mph undereading will make a 0.06 of a mile difference to distance travelled over 1 mile.

Cover car PF this month only us old geezers know the times were set about 8years ago. Was their when he did that he was actually on the limiter & didnt want to move it so 169.9 was all it had, good strong car & genuine Power.

IIRC last time Lee was timed, he was on the limiter on a 3.9 diff by 0.7 of a mile. That was something like 176mph.

Now back on a 3.6 diff though.

Yours would win on style though Rod. At the weekend the Monaro looked proper slow and sounded pretty disapointing. There was no snaking up the runway in the first four gears

As Chipper said though apparently he was loseing loads of power due to high intake temps.

Im confident I can beat the 169 he did if mine is running right on the day, but the problem with that is, he hasnt fitted his nitrous yet, so realistically, im going to get dry humped, but I'll still give it a go, maybe if we can end up at big enough speeds i'll win cause my heavy old 3 door is steady as a rock at speed and robs little lightweight thing dances about a bit, lol
