Early S2's used Dunlop D40's

Later ones used Goodyear Eagle NCT 50's

You'll be hard pushed to find any of the original tyres mate. Concours boys love em so much they pay mega money for em.

Are you planning on driving it much? Only asking cos the last thing i'd be doing on a car thats 18 years old (at least) on 18 year old tyres.. Better off having decent tyres that look similar to the original rubber, but would be safer.

The concours boys only fit them at shows for that reason.

Its not actually my car, its for someone i know. It doesnt get driven a lot but still gets driven. So new tires that look similiar would prob be best.

What ones would you suggest?

The worlds your (or your mates) oyster.

195/50/15 tyres are a very popular size, and there are hundreds of tyres available in that size.

Something close to original would either be Dunlop SP2000 (if you can still get em) or Pirelli p6000. The dunlops have a plain (ish) sidewall and a similar uniform tread pattern to the D40's (from memory)

I'd be inclined to buy 4 matching quality tyres and enjoy the car.

If its not for show purpose does it matter if they "look" like originals?

Dunlop D40's up to 1989 then onto Good Year Eagle NCT50's

Still can get the NCT50's. Have a look in the back of Rallye News RSOC magazine. Plus I seen a few at the shows.
