Ive got a funny feeling my gearbox is about go and might consider fitting a diesel box is there any downside to this, or anybody done it before, ive only heard a few rumours.

Flymo's still running good. I Still want to put an engine on a wheelie bin. Think it would be cool.

the downside is its no better, they have slightly longer gear ratios but are no stronger and u will have no lsd, get urself a proper box which will last from www.gearboxman.co.uk i went through 2 std and derv box in 3 months had a berine box for nearly a year and had no probs wish i bought it before going the cheap route of second hand boxes

Have to agree with sm

I bought my S2 which had aparantly been fitted with a strangthned box (NOT from gearboxman). This lasted a month, got another standard box and this lasted about the same as the last one.

Bought a box form Gearboxman and not had any problems what so ever in a 18 months

I think the stage 1 gearbox's are £500 and the stage 2 with the ATb diff are £1k .

they seem expensive but are proper gearbox's not the normal crappy reconed units you see for sale!!
