Default Kent CVH34 Tolerances

I want to measure the lobes for wear on a CVH34 that has come with a Stage 3 head i've bought and need to know what they should measure from new.
I've emailed Kent for the info but thought i'd ask here too in case someone has a new one kicking about and a Vernier handy to meassure them for me, or just happens to know?!

Cheers!

I did mate at last!!
Paid £225 delivered and it's spec is:

Stainless Oversized Valves (43mm inlet 38mm exhuast), 3 angle valve seats, bronze guides, ported and polished, Kent CVH34 Cam, lifters, double valve springs.
Also came with the Ferriday EFI adapter plate, and then the guy threw in a new unsed cam belt, and new unsed rubber rocker cover gasket!!

Really pleased

Kent got back to me, very fast response!

If anyone is interested the CVH34 tolerances are.....

1.480" (37.59mm) Inlet

1.495" (37.97mm) Exhaust

+/- 0.002"

FYI Stock Ford Cam is:

1.520" (38.60mm) Inlet

1.479" (37.59mm) Exhaust

So the Kent cam is higher lift on the exhaust and lower lift on the inlet than a Ford cam......... interesting.

dont expect the old cam to be in them torerances! and if it is i bet if you put it in with new lifters they will kill it in no time .
who ported the head??

LOL
No i do not expect the cam to be in those tolerances (fitting a new cam/lifters as a matter of course) but i'm just interested to see exactly how much it has worn.
The head work was done by Cylinder Head Developments.
I did not 'put' anything in, it came complete as I said above!
But...... so you know, if you fit new lifters with a old Cam it's the lifters that will get ripped to bits by the Cam not the other way around, the Cam is work hardened and the lifters are soft (being new)

pity it's a kent cam in there really, i killed two of those in less than a thousand miles though it seems to be luck of the draw if you get a good one. I'd stick a newman/solid lifters in it and be done with it....can rev it higher too if required, no lifters to pump up.

From what i've read even Newmans have had problems with lifters breaking up! As you say it really is luck of the draw as to the quality of the lifters, and cam blanks.
To be honest unless there is by some miracle almost no wear on this cam, i'm going to stick a standard cam in! They are the best profile for power vs low down torque and only cost £75 with a set of lifters
Can afford to ruin a couple of those and still have not spent even half as much as say a Kent or Piper kit.
Couple that with one of Stu's new high power magnetic sump plugs (aka CVH Cam Collectors) and i'm good to go!

If your interested do a search on here, there's a couple of really long in depth threads about CVH cams and people experiences with all types including Newmans, IIRC there was even some communcation from Newmans stating that they had a problem with their lifters and that it was being looked into!

How can you say it's higher or less lift?! It's a hydraulic setup - it depends on the base circle!

Yes you are right, just did a quick bit of research here http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~rapidproto/mechanisms/chpt6.html had not looked at cams in depth before! More to it than i realised!

Did have a couple of my solid lifters wear and get stuck in the head, they sent me a brand new set and reground my cam for me foc and not had a problem since and i've had one for a few years now. Tbh i can honestly say i haven't had a cam last any longer....and the solid lifters were so much better for revving the car, hydraulics made a bit of a racket when revved hard for longer periods. Will be trying a different profile for my new engine when it's done, will be via newman though!

I uses to rev my motorfactor special cam and lifters to 7400 and they didn't wear in 40k... Never ever had a problem with a cam on any of my CVH's, but have seen lots and lots that have first hand..
