Default What gives first when raising the Rev limiter?

Is it the big end bolts, or valve float?

Thinking about raising mine to 7200rpm just before my next setup and have ARP rod bolts fitted and double valve springs.

Anyone know anything or have any experiences?

Thanks

No point, you'll not be making usable power up there.

You'll probably run into valve-train issue's, such as valve float, or perhaps a lifter will shit itself.

....or maybe you'll drop an exhaust valve, if the map is a little off too.

As the lads have said if your cars dropping off power before this point then why would you want to rev it that high, your just prolonging the dead zone so to speak.

Sure it sounds good at 7000 RPM sounds better still at 8000rpm and beyond - but in my experience wont last long. I'll not go into failure details on here but we had a few with my builds. Your asking a lot with valves at the size they are likely to be and the weight they are and when you add to that the additional RPM its no surprise that there has to be a limiting factor somewhere.
Your beter looking at maximising your usable power band IMO

Ok fella's that settles that one then! lol
I just thought with the power band of an RS being as short as it is (3000 -6400rpm) it would be nice to extend that a little, but i'll forget that idea

Also, revving it beyond where it is making useful power will just generate high temps, resulting in (as I mentioned earlier), damage to exhaust valves etc and/or detonation.

Mine doesn't really need to be revved beyond 7000-7200 and look at that work that has gone into that.

my new rev limit is 8000 lol but thats just to stop me hitting it lol 7200 is plenty on an old cvh lol and i know all about rippin stuff apart at high revs had loads of bollockings for it lol mind you its well strong up there i just love the sound lmao,

to answer you question the lifters if there hydrolic go first then the valve springs then the big end bolts and last the oil pump surges its tits of then explodes lol

Ok so the general consensus is that it's a big NO to raising the limiter if i want the engine to last any longer than 10mins

I'll leave it as it is!
