Default Mobile opinions?

Right, I think I've narrowed my phone choice to 2.

1. Nokia E71
2. Blackberry 8900

Anybody offer any advice or opinions?

i WAS a huge nokia fan and was extremely excited about the nokia E series....

...the dissapointed MASSIVELY

The blackberry Curve is an infinately better device IMHO. on paper the techspecs look worse, but the device does everything well and works without fail day after day.

the one thing it's lacking is 3G, so if youre a very heavy mobile browser person then it might not be that quick in non-EDGE coverage areas.

i personally use a bold (9000) and i set mine to use 2G only anyway

do you give a shit about mobile email access tho? if so you can always consider a normal mobile... both those phones above are really targeted at business users

To be honest the only reason I have been looking at this tye of hone is because of work. I had originally wanted teh N96 but everybody I know with one has said they are utter crap.

Don't suppose you know if the Blackberry has voice dialing like my N95? On teh phone it's not much help but when it's paired to the Parrot handsfree kit in the car it's a God send

yes it has voice dialing and it integrates perfectly with a Parrot CK3100 for caller ID etc.

The N95 does everything I want it to and when it behaves it's great. Unfortunately it also crashes, freezes and the bluetooth connectivity keeps pissing about with the car kit (other 3 phoes that are paired with it all behave properly). The Blackberry is supposed to be great and has GPS and satnav as well as a qwerty keyboard which would be usefull.

Spose I should add something positive to the thread

I got an E51 a while ago - had it two days before it went back. No where near as good as the N73 it was supposed to be replacing!

Regarding the Blackberry's lack of 3G coverage - just note that if you are on T-Mobile, then you won't even get EDGE coverage either, as T-Mobile have no EDGE service in the UK. So you'll be on GPRS all the time.....

oh, the blackberry does NOT have any good sat-nav applications (ie turn by turn directions)

youve got overhead maps style stuff which is ok for occasional use, but dont expect it to replace your tomtom

I'd be lost without my Blackberry. When I first got it I wondered if I have chosen the right phone but now I'm used to it its now something I couldn't do without. Downloaded Google maps for it as well which has helped me out a few times if I'm stuck (I'm a courier in London), Oh, I only have the Pearl (the small screened thingy bob).

Would thoroughly recommend the Blackberry devices !

I had a blackberry storm as an upgrade about a month ago and I hated it. Worst phone I had ever had, battey would last about 10 hours, signal was terrible, and it was a horrible phone to use.

I sent it back and replaced it for an N96, which is by far the best phone I have ever had. Some people do say that they freeze occasionally, but Nokia have released updated software for it so you can upgrade it, this fixes any freezing problems.

Rich_bloor, make sure also that you dont have lots of applications still open, hold down the menu button for a few secs and that will show u what is open. You should just have menu and standby in the list

^^ My N-95 isn't the 8Gb version though, it's the original, Did look at the 8Gb N-95 but it's not much of an upgrade and Nokia pissed me off when the phone played up telling me it was all down to me using a non genuine memory card. Useless wankers reflashed it three times despite me telling them it was not a software issue and each time it took them 2 weeks to take the phone and return it. T-Mobile had the phone and condemmed it straight away and sent a replacement

im with you on this one, the storm is a TERRIBLE device.

i got 3 of them on a 1 month trial from voda, they all went back in the box after less than 1 day!

RIM really f**ked up with the storm

in comparison the bold which uses pretty much the same OS is BRILLIANT. the only fault i have found with the bold is that it struggles with high bitrate h.264 moves (HDTV) which is annoying as it means i cant use it to replace my ipod 100% (the ipod plays them fine). i can ofcourse convert them to normal mobile movies but im lazy :P
