Hi guys,
My manager at work has been giving me stick about my rst telling me how there TT will murder my rst in a drag race.
So we have a nice sized yard its about a mile long a half mile wide so i will be racing for about a half mile drag race from a standindg start, the last time i raced a TT it was a 2nd gear start and i won i know the TT will have the advantage off the line but i will pull back in from late 2nd early 3rd gear.
It was 197bhp when i raced the last TT the spec know is:
Piper cam
1658 engine with low comp pistons
fmic
-31
head work (unknown spec)
1.5 bar of boost
im sure it's now around 210-220bhp
The TT is std.
I have the added advantage of doing a couple of drag days at the pod so i have an advantage

mmmmm not sure mate ....my mrs TT 225 has instant grip but redlines a 5.5... I took it to work when she first got it and wasnt that impressed....A type R cam up my arse so I thought id try and give it the slip (Not a chance) ended up pulling over to let it past.
If you can set off without spinning then u have a chance....I know mine wouldnt off the mark as its like scooby doo setting off and im running @ 220

Yeah i think pulling away will be the key and then mantaining traction in 1st and 2nd!
Good fun though, look forward to hearing the result!

when mine was on the road not long after its set up at jamsport, running 200bhp, sum clown in a TT225 insisted on following me round until i finally took the bait and raced him
wasnt even close, aside from the fact it was from a rolling start exitin an island and down dual carraigeway, he just got left fallin further and further behind.
i dont doubt a TT would have the edge off the line, but once rolling id say a decent genuine 200bhp RST would be the winner

Been doing my sums
The Audi is 1455 kg's with 225 bhp so the power to weight is = 156 bhp per tonne
and a 200 bhp series 2 rst is 1080 kg's so the power to weight is = 185 per tonne
so with the extra drive chain loss of the 4wd system i should win. the TT will have the grip off the line but as soon as i get into 3rd i will be gone.
Cant wait

All non-standard RS turbos go 'off the clock'.. one of the most unreliable clocks going
I'd be surprised to see any 200bhp rs turbo doing more than a genuine 140mph, and TT's WILL do a genuine 150mph..
If the guy in the TT isn't a shit driver, he should beat you. One downside is they're 6 speed, but their 0-50mph time is sub 5 seconds!

my rs when i first got it did around 125 haha hoping for a bit more now,,
i think you should kill it easy,,
cusins bf has a s3 (think that will be near enuf same engine drive train? ) well,, i was mega disapointed in it when he gave it some,, my rs felt fast although the power in the s3 was constaint, not just a wack of boost after 3k,
look forward to hearing the result,

An R32 I went to santa pod with not so long ago did mid 15 second 1/4miles- similar power and weight to the TT.
If a genuine 200bhp RST can't beat that it needs a new driver
as for the clocks they work fine

When I had a Bayjoo chipped S2 RST in 1998, I seem to remember working out the S2 5th gear would be good for 144mph, that's only the theoretical gearing, doesn't take into account the wind resistance of the car.

I'd be suprised not to see a 'genuine' 200bhp, thats near enough 200bhp per tonne car hit its rev limiter- i also thought a standard rst 5th gear maxxed out at 149.
