Hi Guys,


I got pulled over earlier by an unmarked traffic police car. They gave me £60 and 3 points due to the tint percentage on my front windows, anyone on here had this happen to them before? Also what offence code appears on your licence for this?

they cant give u points for that , i got stopped and got told to take the tints off while i was there, they stood and watched me rip the tint off, fuckin shockin that is

 

Never heard of anyone getting points? Normally get a seven-day wonder, and that's it? Did he not give you an NIP with the details on?

 

i had this a few months ago, copper was okay about it on the understanding that it would be removed soon as, although he did tell me that if i was pulled over again and i hadnt tajen it off , they would prosecute me for dangerous driving/undue care and attention cos it impares vision in the dark and you would be responsible for making your car like this, so i took it off when i got home!!!

 

I was stopped in my Lexus and got a £30 fixed penalty. Never heard of getting points for it though, so i assuming the law has recently changed.

 

if the percentage is between 50 - 25 you get a £30 fine and told to remove
if its below 25 % its 3 points and £60 fine and they can give you a prohibiton notice as well ive been done before and got 3 points.

mine measured 3% on the door glass and 30 % on the windscreen so i was taking the piss a bit

 

Good to see they are clamping down though.

On the limo black ones yes, but i dont agree that the light tint ones makes it any more restrictive. Some of the limo black ones you see on boy racer cars and 4x4's though are a bit ridiculous. I know someone who had to wind his windows down at night or he couldnt see jack!

 

I got a prohibition order put on my old car, basically I had to drive home with the windows open, then not move the car until tints were removed, and I had to go to a vosa testing station within 7 days to have them re-checked.

The standard ford glass was within 0.5% of the legal limit, so only just passed!

 

He must of been having a bad day, Ive only heard normally you get a 7 day wonder where you have to present the car for a light sensor retest with the tints removed.

Wait to see what the charge is mate, id be tempeted to appeal. Seems as he he may be trying to make an example of you?
