Default oil for my rs turbo??

hi there i am planning on doing an oil change on my rs turbo and was wondering what oil is the best to put back in thanks and could you specify if its synthetic or part

has to be fully synthetic

personally i use silkolene pros 5w 40 as recomended by oilman

but mobil one motorsport 15w 50 is also used by alot of erst owners and ive used it in the past too

out of them 2 oils which would you say was the best??

Dont worry about the make too much just get the right grade! obviously dont put halfords special in ur rs!

ok there both around similar prices which would be mor suited for my rs turbo running about 190bhp????

if you really want to find out whats best for your spec then register on www.opieoils.co.uk and tell him your spec and he will tell you whats best for your engine

im using 10-40 semi at the moment seems to be ok but most like to use 15-50.

Try and get some 5-40 if you can its a bit better than 10-40

15/50 or 10/50 Fully Synth 3 Ester Oil is the only way to go!
When I changed from a '40' to a '50' it made a 8-10psi oil pressure difference at 85degree's, as I have said before turbo charged engines have a lot higher oil temps than NA engines and so the oil will be thinner hence the need for a higher viscosity oil to maintain the correct pressure and lubricaiton, oil that is too thin will accelerate engine wear at a very fast rate!

The 'w' or Winter rating is pretty much unimportant in this country as we rarely see ambient temps below -10degrees so 5w, 10w, 15w it's all ok.

Most grades from 5-15w 40/50 work well in a CVH.

Dont forget your magnetic drain plug though, will help to collect your cam lobes!

i have bin told to use by the opieoil website

silkolene pro s 5w 40
or
motul 300v 5w 40

fully synthetic of cors around £45 for 5 litres
