Default Running Costs

Hi all,

Well, im looking to replace my Mondeo in April with a petrol car. I no longer have the use for a diesel and my dad is buying it off me.

Went onto direct line and got insurance quotes for a couple of cars. One was the Escort Cosworth. £625 for me, 23y.o with 5 years NCB. It isnt my 1st choice but you never know.

Anyway, my question was, how much do they cost to run. I would only want a standard non-modified one. I know that it is an old car so there would be more problems that a newer car.

Thanks

Andy

As said above it depends how many miles you do, its not that they can't do it but you'll pay the dreaded Cossie tax on any parts that it needs. Servicing isn't expensive unless it needs major parts.

Petrol is the main thing as you really need to run it on SUL although NUL is ok on a standard car. If it was me I'd go for a ST model as they'll be newer & potentially lower miles.

Some good deals at the moment, best time to buy I'd say.

I thake it SUL is super unleaded rite.

I only do 7.5 miles a day to and from work. Some on the weekends aswell, but not a lot. I would only want a standard one, insurance would rocket if it was modified.

Thanks

Escort is 3rd choice. Just finding out as much as i can. Focus ST is 1st choice, Integra TypeR DC5 is 2nd.

Your best bet is find your nearest RS meet & go along, most owners like to talk about their cars so you'll get plenty of info first hand.
