How do folks,

I am contemplating removing the turbo engine from my convertible and replacing it with a Zetec.
I have the chance of a Mondeo with a 1.8 blacktop engine for the grand price of nothing.
In my garage I have a knackered 1.8 silvertop from an escort.
for a blacktop to go into a mk4 escort, will I have to change the waterpump, sump etc from that of the silvertop in order for it to fit.

any help would be appreciated

 

Silvertop water pump wont fit on a blacktop engine unless you drill the block to make it fit.
Sump wise it's not a problem fittling the sump or oil pickup pipe its the baffle plate that goes between them that is. The blacktop's baffle plate is part of the sump and you wont beable to use it, the one from the silvertop bolts on to the main caps only problem is the main caps on the blacktop dont let you do that as the rods hit the baffle plate unless you space them out or do what i did and have the taller main caps made to fit from the silvertop to the blacktop.
