i'd do it, love the looks of the series one out side but the dash is poop but always wanted to put series 2 stuff in a series 1 best of both worlds and tell the purists to get a life but keep the series1 just in case you sell it

I have full S2 Recaro seats in my mk3. The front seats are a direct swap. The rear seats are different though. The base part (where you sit on) is an easy swap too, but the back part is narrower, have different hinge location, and different locking arm locations. Because it is narrower, you would need the more plastic mk4 rear side trim to fill in. The hinges can be exchanged to mk4 hinges but still there was some small modifications required. The locking arms need to be taken of a mk4 as well, but I have never gotten them to work 100%. The front door cards from the S2 don't fit, so I have mk3 XRi cards that better match the grey and red colours.
I've definately kept the S1 dash and clocks as the mk4 clocks are poo, don't have the warning lights and the indicator switches are just crap.

And before you say it's sacrilege, it had some Opel seats when I bought it...

S1 with S2 trim..like this?

Personally I'd keep mk3 in a mk3 but it's your car in the end so if you're happy to fit the later items then do it - regardless of what others think
Just make sure you take your time and do it right otherwise there's no point as people will then say "not only has he fitted later spec mk4 bits, it's not even been done properly".
