Im serious, what a complete nitemare mine has turned out to be.

I was supposed to pick up my Smart Roadster SpeedSilver on 05/11/04. I got a phone call on the 4th to tell me that altho it had been delivered from the PDi centre, on the way the electrics all packed up and the car will no longer run - caused by rain water getting into the ECU.

Some of you might remember the alloy on the pool car I got from work, well that was pool car No1.

Pool car 1: Smart Roadster Barabus

Went back as well over due a service, brakes were also shot to pieces

Pool car 2: Smart Roadster (standard)

Went back as roof was leaking, which made the car stink, also petrol gauge stopped working.

Pool car 3: Smart Roadster Coupe Barabus

This one actually lasted for nearly 2 weeks, went back Wednesday this week as had a all that mine had finnaly been fixed.

Picked up my Roadster on Wed afternoon, drove it for 5 mins and has warning lights come up all over the dash.
Took it back yesterday morning, got given:

Pool car 4: Smart ForFour

Nice car, drive ok but I dont have kids

Got a call yesterday afternoon, they found the fault with mine and its been fixed.

Went to pick it up last night, the fault was fixed, tried to drive it away and the petrol gauge stopped working

So im now in:

Pool car 5: Smart ForFour
Same as Pool car 4

Im so glad I havn't had to fork out the £15k+ that these things cost.

Im not the only one who has had problems, and the rumour is that they are going to stop production for 6 months whils they fix all the ones that have already been made

 

Do as my uncle did with his mondeo, contact head office and demand a brand spanking new one.

 

That wont be a lot of good if thats wanked as well.

Who and where actually make them out of curiousity?

Yep, they're made in Germany by DaimlerChrysler AG, then brought into the UK by DCUK, who co-own my Company with DCS...... all very confusing lol

Just to clarify things........... im not buying it.
I work for them so i effectively 'borrow' it for 9 months at an extremely good price then hand it back.

Mike - I agree, the Roadster is a girls car (apart from it being RWD) but the Roadster Coupe is most definately a blokes car.

I took the Coupe to the Beds RS meet earlier this month and the amount of blokes who said they liked it and wouldn't mind one was shocking!
