Default Bugger, just come off the bike

Its just started raining here but hasn't done for a good few days, so the roads are really greasy, was following my sister to mine when a feckin scooter in front of her decided he wanted to park the thing and stopped dead in the road. My fault as I should have been paying more attention.

I touched the brakes and the front wheel locked up and I could see I was heading towards her car so I jumped off, bike smashed one side of the bumper and I did the other side with my shoulder...

All I can say is thank fook for crash bungs... all I've got is a small scratch on the can (not noticable to anyone except me really) and a scuff on the front fairing which will be easy to touch up. Theres a bastard great piece of the crash bung missing!

My shoulders starting to really hurt now, got a feeling I'm gonna feel it in the morning....

Luckily my sis was fine about it, I'm lucky theres nothing more than pride damaged really...

You could take Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements if your shoulder gives you problems as you probably got a bit of cartlidge damage there but sounds like you ain't too bad

sorry to hear it mate, hope you get better soon.

that's why as a beginner i got me a cbf600s wit ABS. i wouldn't be without ABS on a bike, it's the greatest safety feature that you can have, and probably would've prevented your crash (if you weren't following too closely).

the tendency in an emergency is to snatch the front brake, no matter how experienced you are, and i won't hear it from experienced riders that they don't need ABS as they can stop quicker without it. maybe they can under controlled conditions when you know you will be braking, but when it comes to the panic brake, give me ABS everytime.

i think that ABS should be compulsory on all new bikes, and i don't want to change to one without (although the options are currently quite limited if you want a sports bike). my next bike would probably be a VFR800.

Yeah no worries John, I know you were

I'm really hurting this morning, back is really stiff

Took the day off work today, will go back 2moro, if anything I can just use the crane all day and keep out the way.

ABS would have been nice, I braked at about 15mph and the wheel locked up almost straight away cos of the road being so greasy, I think there would've been a lot of damage if I'd have been going too fast or too close...

foreign rs
cbf600 to a vfr8? are you an old man?
my hirebike went away yesterday that i had off the ins.it was an 02 vfr8.pretty good bike to ride.vtec is VERY interestin when ya hit 7k revs lol BUT can also be V nasty cos if you on v slight throttle edgin towards 7k takin it easy cos of rain etc the bike can get a horrible jolt as the vtec kicks in. havin spoken to some1 about it he said 2 of his m8s had crashed vfr8's this yr!
They reasonably quick but not as fast as my cbr6. comfortably saw 149 on speedo tho only prob i had was that you cant get the balls of your feet up on the pegs with out standin on rear pegs/exhaust which is v annoying

anyways get yersel a sports bike

hi lambchop, i'm not getting any younger that's for sure. i'm 31 which may or may not be an old man, i don't know. at least i'm not talking about bmw's

i only started riding last year, mostly because i was too lairy when i was younger and probably would've killed myself quite quickly if my accident record in cars is anything to go by. i want to get a lot more experience before i get a sportsbike and go wheelying off down the road, and i see the vfr as a logical step between my current bike and a sports bike. and best of all, it has abs which could be a lifesaver. then hopefully in a couple of years time, more sports bikes will be available with abs and be on the secondhand market.
