can this be done... or dosent it fit at all?

Fits especially this way round and 90% of different makes the other way too.

Oh yes.

Only thing really different between the S1 and S2 in the strut brace area is the shape of the plastic heater motor housing. S1 has a bigger one that can foul a S2 strut brace.
