Right folks i picked up a joblot of rst parts last night incl an escort turbo engine with piper cam and piper vernier pulley, so the plan is to strip down the engine and basically start from scratch with it and rebuild it so its nice and reliable-ish so at least i know what ive got.
whats the best parts to use for a rebuild,ford or uprated stuff

 

from what i have read on most forums it seems that genuine ford parts are the way to go like pumps and gaskets, and then uprated for items like bolts

 

Here is what i would go for:
Rebore +0.5mm (providing its not that already)
Everything Balanced (crank, rods, fly, clutch etc..)
Deck block (minimal)
New Mahle Pistons +0.5mm
HD B/E & Mains
New Thrusts
New HP Oil pump
ARP Rod Bolts (a must)
New gallery plugs (after cleaning the galleries)
Gen ford gaskets (my personal opinion)

Will make for a reliable bottom end. Never mix old/new parts.
