Cos the road tax is raised again for diesel cars i need to sell my (t)rusty old laguna 2.2D and i will have to use my Estate turbo for a daily drive. But i have bad experiences with using cvh powered cars as a daily drive So who is using his/her RSt for a daily drive.

 

Before i sold mine i was using it every day for around 18 months. and the two times it didnt start were when it needed a new battery an the other time a new starter motor so not that bad really! That was just your normal stage one, chip, exhaust, fmic, 16 psi though.

 

my old one was similar spec to above.was a show car aswell.was used every single day to ferry me and my 2 sons about.only time it completley broke down was wen i ran out of fuel racing back from southend lol

 

My 3rd rs was very standard. Would of got me to scotland and back and i live in kent!!! Over the 2 years of driving it it done southend, ace cafe and the pod. One trackday at brands and one at thuxton. But one day mate of mine stuck a broken bleed valve stuck at 2 bar it was fun for a whil!!! Poor car, dead.

 

I'm running a FRST engine every day and its hellish. journy to work and back and about town journeys i'm getting less than 20mpg. Good laugh when there is space, but as a commuting vehicle id not recommend it.

how much extra is the tax? Must be worth just paying it and carry on using a crappy car to run about in?

 

Seriously the tax can't be enough to justify that swap. No matter how good your 20 yr old RS is its gonna cost more to maintain,fuel and insure than a newer diesel car.

 

My old Escort was used for about 8 years as a daily runner. It never once failed to get me to or from work.
