Default Installed a new cam an still rattling

Installed a new cam yesterday. Ran it for 20 mins at 2,500 rpm and then took it for a gentle run out for about an hour.

Driving to work this morning and noticed that there is a top end noise there like a tappet noise.

What could it be. Would it take a few hundered miles for the cam and followers to bed in properly?

Hope someone can help.

Cheers
Dave

I'll have a look at the tensioner and let you know. Seems to be coming from under the rocker cover though. Its is a brand new cam and tappets. Plenty of oil there n all. I'll give it a couple of hunderd miles and see if it gets any better. If not they'll be going back.

Cheers

poor oil pump, low oil pressure. Did you change all the gaskets on the top end, e.g. cam seal, maybe try re-lapping the valves etc... all cvh's are noisey, my sounds loud but im using double valve springs and anti-pump lifters.

also you need to change the tappet\lifters at the same time when changing the cam otherwise the tappets will wear funnny and vice versa with the cam.

Ive known people just change the tappets on an old cam and within 20 miles there noisy again becase they've warn to the old cam!
