Default Fiesta RS Turbo -H543 HRW (C17 KAM)

OK,

I picked up this shell yesterday from macturbo. https://passionford.com/forum/restorations-rebuilds-and-projects/263197-fiesta-rs-turbo-update-24-10-08-a.html
https://passionford.com/forum/showth ... p?t=272373 which I'm going to start restoring as soon as I can. It needs a lot of work (front floor pans, sills, chassis leg and bulk head) but I am in no hurry so however long it takes it wont really matter. Once the shell has been sorted and painted I'm going to re-shell my existing FRST. I figured out it would be alot cheaper and quicker to get another shell than to strip my existing FRST with an added bonus that I wont have to rush. I want to achieve a fully restored genuine FRST which will have been done to my spec. (MK5 Zetec S dash door cards and rear cards, MK5 tail gate and spoiler, Audi handles on the doors, power steering etc
I am undecided on what colour would suit the Fiesta. I'm thinking
either the original Red, a metalic red or black or the Cosworth Pacifica Blue. Any opinions?

I also feel that with the 17" rims I am running on my existing FRST and the deep front MCR spoiler and laguna splitter some sort of deeper side skirt would be needed as to me the original ones just dont seem quite right. Again, any opinions?
This is my current FRST but with standards lights now fitted and the bonnet spacers removed.

Does it need deeper side skirts? Something like these with matching arches (not the bumper)?

Finally, as mentioned its going to need some replacement panels. Where's best to get them from and are 'copies' ok to use or are genuine ones better?

Any help will be appeciated.

Hi Andy, Definatly not blue, for me, it just doesn't suit the mk3 front end shape, if you were to change to 16's, it just brings it that bit closer down and wouldn't need any deeper side skirts imo, but, if you are going for a full rebuild, and in no rush, why not try other things? what about a fibreglass series one kit blended into the sides?
Good luck with the rebuild and look forward to seeing the result!

It doesnt really need much apart from the usuall rear filler cap panel and maybe a wing. Its nothing that needs urgent attention but I have always wanted to carry out a project from start to finish so here we go

I had thought about the S1 kit especially the arches. I'll see how it all comes together and decide. I think I'll stick to the original Ford red now. Mine at the moment is a Mitsubishi Red, the same colour as the GTO is painted.

Thanks for the comments guys I'll keep you updated.

Right, time for an update.

As mentioned in the first post I bought a shell for restoration but having looked at the work involved and because I have no welding experience to talk about I decided to move the shell on to some one with the time to get it right.

I am therefore going to get on with restoring C17 KAM. I've owned this for almost seven years and was standard when I bought it. Siils and rear arches were replaced in 2003 but I haven't done much over the last few years as having a couple of kids has taken up most of my time.

On close inspection the shell is solid with no major work required to get it mint once again.

A n/s replacement rear quater is urgently needed (dreaded MK3 fuel filler rot) but I have also decided that both front wings will be replaced together with an o/s rear arch. Although these arn't that bad at the moment getting them done now will save a lot af time and money in the future.

This will mean that with my new doors (thanks again Dave), MK5 tailgate conversion, carbon bonnet and the standard arches and side skirts the car should be as I want it when finished.

My Fiesta was taken to Brico, in Aldridge last week and work has began.

Haven't updated this thread for a while now. The Fiesta has been finally completed after 6 months and all thats left for me to do is get the interior back in. As can be seen form the restoration pictures I've ended up fitting 2 new front wings and 2 rear wings. Although this cost a lot more that I was anticpiating but I am really pleased with the out come.
what do you all think?
(pictures aren't in any particular order)

Havent had much time over the last 18 months to finish the Fiesta but have managed to get a few things done whenever I had a couple of hours spare here and there although there havent been many.

Today I Managed to find some time and get the car out of the garage for the first time in months. Felt really good to her ticking over. The pictures below show where I am with putting everything back together. Interior needs to be finished, I love the way the flocking has turned out, and fit the Puma racing seats. The engine bay needs tidying up as I've had to move a lot of stuff around to fit the new inlet. Need some new R888 on the back and good clean (the flocked interior doesnt half attract the dust), polish and an MOT. Fingers crossed all will be ready for the shows this year. I havent attended any for three years - last outing was the European Ford Event in Holland and the Nurburgring in 2007. I'll also need a mapping session because of the new inlet. A 3" bore exhaust is also on the list. Fitted a Newman cam after the Nurburgring trip but stayed on the same map. Current flywheel bhp is 310 so I'm hoping for about 340.

What do people think to the Laguna splitter? I'm in 2 minds to take it off. Opinions please.

Thanks for the comments guys. The panels were sourced by the body shop that the did the work for me. I dont know what make they are but they are copies. I wanted original Ford ones but I was assured that the fit would still be perfect and as you can see everything fits nicely.

I think I'll be keeping the splitter then.
