Painting my spoiler help !
hay there i have got a 90 spec xr3i spoiler that someone has laqured. i want to paint it. some people say you cant paint the rubber spoilers ? i so how do you do it ?
The spoilers are made of PU RIM, a type of polyeurothane(sp) they can be sprayed no probs using a plasticiser, a flex agent in the paint.
One problem that can occur is that when they are made in moulds, the moulds are coated with silicone anti stick to ease getting the finished spoiler out, this can come through after a while(years) and so need doing every so often, years though not months.

before you paint it put it some where worm for a week let it get any thing inside out
then whipe it off with a good cleaner/pannel whipe
then prime with a 2k primer with flexible addative added to primer then after its dry (remember to let it air dry dont force it with heat or it will pop) wet flat this with 800 grade paper then paint with the same addative in the paint as the primer
then whipe it off with a good cleaner/pannel whipe
