Default anyone know the wieght of a mk3 esc rst or zt?

im looking to put my escort on a strict diet but wondering what it weighs as standard? whats the best things to loose weight with? im thinking carpets, insulation behind dash, sound proofing on floor, cutting inner door skins and fitting carbon cards, are poly windows relatively waterproof? (with sliders?) cheers

if your caging it you can go proper mental with an angle grinder and remove tons of surplus brackets. You can go crazy drilling holes out of stuff too

striping the sound proofing from the floor is quite tedious, will need painting after aswell

I thought the best way for removing sound proofing was a heat gun not a jigsaw?????

I wonder how much i can save from my puma going psycho with carbon and an angle grinder Is a weld in cage strong enough so that the structural strength of the bodywork becomes unnesscesary meaning maximum cutting away can be done??? Id ideally like to get to the point where the bodywork just keeps the weather out

Standard body,no sunroof, plastic widows,no soundproofing,no rear seats,no interior trim,no ABS,no side skirts or spoiler, just stripped as much as possible out of the car.To get a RST down to 850 kg with a full tank of petrol BUT with a roll cage is very very good going!!!!Regards,Micky

I'd guess that Tim's car is around the origional 980kg,as his car really is'nt that stipped inside, plus Tim has a cage too.Regards,Micky

But then the gains in stiffness etc from fitting a cage should make the wieght gain worth it. Well thats the way i see it with cages.
