I want this because I shall paint my escort in these colors

Depends if you mean Group A or WRC esc Carl?

Thiry drove a group A car in 1996 and Schwartz drove a WRC in 1997

 

ok then ian's right,there was another driver called gwyndaf evans. which repsol car did gwyndaf evans drive in indonesia ??,
not many people know gwyndaf drove escort cosworths,he was also a test driver for ford and i like to think the car was good due to gwyndafs input, he definately drove a repsol car

yep ari drove a few escort cosworths.

gwyndaf the unknown repsol driver drove car number 5 in indonesia, he ubfortunately got booted out for a illegal refulling, now gwyndafs a top boyo, go gwyndaf go

 

IIRC correctly it was Gwyndaf in the Esc Cos rally car in the original TV advert....

I do remember Gwyndaf in Indonesia....he has vast history with ford stretching back to the 'Mr Tomkinson' pink 3 door.....do you have no pics of that car Carl? One of my first rallying memories are of Jim Mcrae, Phil Collins and Gwyndaf on the Cartel rally going through Harewood house in 3 doors....lol....how old do I sound....

Malcom wilson also did a lot of development for the escort in the scottish rally championship

 

quite a few drivers did development, the one driver who did the most was gwyndaf,the others like wilson,delacour,biasion, did proper rallys and some testing of the new car while driving sierras. you have to remember the sierra was a current rally car when all the testing for the escort was going on.

 

In 1996 there were 7 different drivers who drove Repsol Escort Cosworth's
and in 1997 there were 3 the only one being the same is Carlos Sainz.

1996 - Sainz, Delecour, Evans, Rukmana, Blomqvist, Vatanen and Thiry

1997 - Sainz, Schwarz and Kankkunen

carl thats not an upto date advert,that car is sat less than 6 miles from me here and it looks nothing like that.

i dont think there are many folk in the world who have done more test miles in an escoz than him,if any.

 

david gillanders wasn't he a dentist and a mate of malcoms, its all coming back to me now,sandy dalgarno,drew gallagher, ahh the good old days.

oy mickey i looked on the german site a few weeks ago and the wrc car was not on there so it can't be a old ad, maybe its a wrc car with repsol colours and a 4 quid number plate chucked on. i could buy the ram sport car and paint it repsol colours and ask 150k euros, the mrs would not be happy living in a tent though

heres some piks of my repsol escort remote control tamiya car.. i got it second hand hence thats why its a little tatty but better then others and is a rare bodyshell to find.. took me a good few months asking around to get it =]=]=] let me know what you think.

 

It is him. Known him 2 1/2 years and never realised . He's a nice chap and very modest with it. He's put me in touch with Graham Quick who used to build the rally cars with him and he's taking a look at my Escort.

 

is this gwyndaff driving this one then?

if not who is and who is his co driver? the side flags show belgium coloured flags if I am not mistaken hence the confusion? That would suggest duval, liox, Thiery?? Did he come in as a late replacement for the driver that should have driven this rally? Catalunya according to the side panel
