Default replaced engine and a few teething problems.

I replaced the engine last night, it took all day, well i worked for 24 hours in the end as i had to take the engine out another car.
Plumbed it all in and to my surprise and happiness, it started first turn of the key... the only problem i encountered was where all the plugs around the back of the engine go, if anyone can let me know then that will be great.

Im also not getting any fuel reading, i know the car has fuel but it aint showing on the gauge, i wondered if its all drained out but to be honest i only disconnected the banjo underneath the inlet and also the injectors (4 of them).

When i drove it down the road i got about a mile before it started backfiring and flames popped and banged out the back, it was running rough as a dog.
I turned the key again and it cranked then stopped, then cranked. I popped the bonnet and noticed that the dizzy cap was loose and also the carbon brush inside it is worn, i reckon this could be the reason why it was running like a dog, any other ideas anyone?

cheers and merry christmas!

Also did you swap the metering unit over? If you didnt then you need to or the fuelling will be completely wrong.

24hours!! I dont envy that mate, but well done!

yeah its just running like shit but im going to swap the metering unit over in a bit and see if that solves the problem... i hope it does lol! Karlos G is a good chap and says that the metering unit needs to be changed otherwise the fuelling will be wrong and i reckon thats where i went wrong!
