who's done the mk5 pedal convertion?...is it needed for a decent clutch runnin 200-250 roughly the same torque

Yes and Yes.

There's a big difference between 200 and 250 in terms of what clutch you'll need. But generally speaking, I'd go for a Paddle in both and therefore the conversion will be needed.

Yes and again yes! lol
It gives you greater travel on the clutch cable and ensures the the clutch disengages properly.
I run an AP Organic and it wouldnt clear without doing the mod!

It takes away the 'self-adjusting' ratchet system and puts in its place a larger quadrant, which improves the pedal 'feel' because the leverage is stronger. It's not a particularly straight forward conversion, but the heavier clutches will not only feel awful, but put alot more strain on the already unreliable ratchet system.

i wouldn't put a paddle in for 200bhp id go for the ap organic its much nicer and is well up to the job.

jamie at jamsport cut a piece of mettle out of something on my clutch peddle and its made it sit just slightly higher,therefore more travel and its fine now as the uprated clutch wudnt work properly

i bought everything from ford for this conversion but never got round to using it,let me now if you need it

pj motorsport give me alist of parts to get from ford and i got them,think its the pedal,quadrant,bushes and springs,ithinks its awkward to get to i paid Ł40 frm ford

I have not done this conversion and i have no trouble with mine and
my car runs 230 bhp and 252 lb/ft torque and i have a paddle clutch in it!

i had problen in my zetec turbo setting the clutch up, but i have heard of the ratchet mech breaking
