how do u check a coil on a s2

im stuck with my car i cant get it running ,maybe the coil?? how would i go about checkin to see if it works correctly??

take a lead off,stick a scew driver in it,lean it agaist the engine and crank it,should see a spark

well if its sparkin it must not be bugerd then im so confused i cant get it round my head why its running like a lawnmower or not running atall as the case is
