ello 2 all.. im taking the engine out of a 1.8 zetec 94 escort and puttin into a 1.6 mfi 88 escort(xr3i).. im tryin 2 do this as cheaply as poss.. iv no probs with it but 2 wire it up is a real head scratcher.. any help with this would be appreciated.. thanks..

add good dig round inernet.. found this, usher racing, they claim that if use a early esc wiring and a pinto carburettor on a made up manifold then ur good 2 go.. don,t get much cheaper than that.. sounds 2 easy tho,, any 1 tried that?? or am i best off gettin megasquirt??

your help on this lads has been overwhelming.. ive decided 2 tryin keep the 1.8 zetec loom.. buy just cutin off what i dont need.. like lights/heaterswitches etc.. so far so good.. decided 2 keep the PATS system.. by fittin the key senser and barrel 2 the XR3.. still tryin 2 find a way 2 remove the fuse box from the zetec loom.. theres still a few wires runnin into it.. wen i remove them she wont start.. i know the fuel pump relay is on it i can bypass that easy enough.. what else do i need off it?? or am i on me tod with dis 1. ill try nget some pics up soon..

zetec on a carb with esc is simple.

the esc only needs a live earth and rev counter to one half of the coil (will read half but you get what you pay for)

hi mate let us know how you get on,would of been alot easier for you if you started with efi but good look mate,got no plans for this but very intrested post sum pics and let us know what you had to change chop or adjust

theres life.. cheers lads.. still tippin away at this.. engines in, zetec looms in but not fully connected..alternator done.. had 2 make up and weld a bracket on accelerator pedel 2 accept zetec cable.. stuck on few things tho... which pipe is fuel in???? and theres a black box on the drivers side outside the inner wing>(somiin 2 do with breathin system) theres 2 pipes on it 1 leads 2 inlet manifold the other 2 near the petrol cap .. what doe's it do?? and will i need it on the xr?? should i just block it off?? and the coolin system.. seen ure man's guide, zetec swap do it 4 200 quid.. been quite helpfull.. am i right in understandin u block the front hose on the thermostat housin??? and join the back 1 2 the bottom connection on the bulk head?? still workin on gettin pics up...
