Aaron, sounds like a good question to me, im would think he is thinking that if the car is on its wheels the forces would be pushing the inner wings/strut tops would be pushing in slightly more than if the weight was taken off the inner wings by jacking it up.
No need for your post id say

Mart.

if the engine is in it shouldnt matter

but when i did the sierra with no engine in and fitted the brace, it fitted lovely, but once the engine was fitted i had to line the strut brace up with the holes as with the weight of the engine in it moved the struts slightly

Hope your joking pal because your 100% WRONG. To fit it properly often needs the suspension uprights removing and on some the fitment will alter the suspensions alignment so requires 4 wheek alignment afterwards ideally.

I would say, drill the holes with the car sat on the floor, then jack up to fit.

If fitting a Front and Back one deffo worth gettin the tracking checked imo.

Just the frount one at the mo but like tou say when jacked up the struts move apart ie wider gap not a lot but still like to check and get it right.

So were saying jacked up retracked

A quick question to ease my thick skull!

I fitted my rear strut brace a while ago and this thread had me pondering!

If the back one goes on easily when the car is sat on its wheels and it is just a solid bar, what difference would jacking it up make?

I fully understand that taking the load off wheels could potentially move the turrets in which case, if it moves them that much, surely the brace wouldn't fit!

(SENSIBLE explanations please!)
