Default Been Ripped Of Another Forum

I'm after some advice here.

A few months back now I sold a couple of parts on another forum and arranged to have the parts sent via courier. Now the guy told me he would transfer the funds over to me and I'd receive it on the thursday (it was monday/tuesday at the time).

Now the courier I used had a slot for that day, but nothing for a few days after, and I was going to be away for a while after then, so I thought ok, I'll trust the guy (with hindsight not a wise move, but in 7 years of using forums I've always been like this and never had a bad experience, and am very trusting) and had the stuff collected and off to him the same day.

No funds appear, so I get in touch. He apologises and says he must have copied my bank details down wrong, so I send them again. 2 weeks later, still no funds. Tries again, 3 weeks later and still no funds.

So then he says ok, he'll send a cheque, so I send him my address and months later, still nothing and now he doesn't reply to any contact.

The forum in question have been unhelpful with previous attempts to help out, so I've not tried them this time, and the guy is 500 miles away from me!

It's only £50 (he did say he'd sent me £75 as a gesture to him messing me around, but never did!)

The money doesn't bother me, but I don't like anyone like that getting one over on me

I was ripped off by a member on Escort Evolution months ago, and it still pisses me off thinking about it. I bought some sideskirts and spats from him, and payed by paypal. When they were sent there was 1 jacking point cover missing , and one of the spats. They were all really loosely wrapped in bubble wrap. He said that the spat must have got lost in transit so there is nothing he can do. No refund on that. I said he found the jacking point cover and would post it but never did that either. Paypal wouldn't help as it wasn't bought on ebay. DHL wouldn't do anything without proof it was sent complete.

my brother had pretty similar experience. Guy kept saying he would send the money, kept making excuses etc. Too far away to visit. My brother gave up in the end, it was only about £20 i think but it's the principle. Anyway, months later a cheque arrived from the guy for something like £35 and his appologies etc.

Hopefully you'll get your back soon enough

well thats the risk you willing to take is it not. and it all down to where and who you get the parts from if there name is gold on some sites.

if he had used pay pal then there would of been no trouble as your money is safe guarded all he had to do was wait for the money to clear !!! i got a few parts waiting to clear in my pay pal worth a few hundred pounds i am not going to send them until there clear!!

The guy said he was going away the following week and I was out and about for the last 2 days of that week, so thought I'd be doing the right thing by getting it shipped out that very day so he'd have it no more than 48hrs later. Sure, it was a risk doing things that way round, but he sounded very sincere and told me that he'd already made a BACS payment and even told me what reference he'd put with it so I'd know what the payment was. As said, I've very often sent good out before I've received payment (unless it's a something especially valuable) and never once been stung.

I don't have his full address to hand, but still have the courier documents with it all on.

All I know off the top of my head is that the postcode starts IV (Inverness?) and is very far North in Scotland, and looking at maps it appears pretty remote. Think the name of the place was something like "Maryburgh"?

Can the police not help you out as it's theft at the end of the day, if you have emails etc - screen dump them and print and take it all to the police and they may follow it up as i know someone local has done this.

the problem is we all have mates, we all have moral codes pay what we owe do favours etc, the problem lies int he fact you treat people online in the same way, it doesnt work like that, theres no morals ethics or decency online when it comes to money, most of the dodgys feel to safe hidden behind a keyboard

look at the amount of posts you see been scammed, the chaps that have scammed loads of people on sites for thousands and nothing gets done apart from lenghty topics saying coont wanker thats terrible etc.

its a shame but its too easy for them to rip us off so me personally im carefull as fuck with my heard earned, i research everyone i buy from

post his address on here, i'm sure someone on here would be willing to pop a note through his door for you.

he's obviously a piece of sh!t. he knows you live miles away and therefore wont be paying him a visis, so it'll be a shock and you will probably recieve a cheque in the post.

you have to stick together against these pieces of sh!t

i just came across this thread by typing in dingwall.
to see if anyone on here lived up there.
as ive been scammed out of £80 for an impact wrench.
i dont normally trust anyone i dont know to do a balance transfer.as the boy said he has no paypal.
anyway hes taken the money and ive recieved nothing in over a week.even although he says hes sent it and will give me tracking number 3 times and never has.
clearly trying to bump me.
but as i got to the bottom of thread what were the chances .
his name is darren mackenzie

Because if they arent a "law abiding" motorist....the law doesnt care and doesnt want to target them. So it's easy thieving for them.

Yep, thats the one.

Sold someone a red fiesta bumper, got paid... never sent the item.. since then, hes advertised it twice for sale again claiming buyer never made contact etc.. (the same old stories..)

Latest account is Danny Murphy. pops up here and there. avoid him , ripped off so many people.
