Default Would a diesel chip make a noticeable difference

With Stu's prices on chips my daily Hack (which is used for meeting up and down the Motorway and A roads)

Its a cheap and cheerful Pug 306 HDI, it saving me about £150 a month on fuel as the Saab does 330 Miles to tank and the HDI is hitting low 600s.

The chips that Stu has on offer would make the Pug go from

90 bhp and 167 Ft Lb to
120bhp and 220 Ft Lb

Will i notice a big difference, new to oil burners, in the cossie world 270bhp to 300 aint a lot, but i suppose with diesels its torque

Also what is the real world fuel saving when been driven sensibly, do the diesiel chips actually return better mpg

Thanks in advance

Another 30% plus, think you'd notice lol. Have to look at the percentage not amount.
Think of another 80 odd bhp or lb/ft more on the cossie, notice that.

Recently had my passat tdi 110 chipped, massive difference, can overtake easily now.
Must be 4 times quicker between 70-90 now.
Goes like stink compared to before.

Mpg has taken a nosedive, a large part of that may be overtaking all these slow twats rather than sitting behind them doing 60mpg dawdling along.

Depends on age, are other ways on older cars.
Quite simple on the 1.7's I think.

I had a mild re-map done on my Octavia 110 tdi about 18k miles ago, took it to 143bhp, with a hefty increase in torque.

Economy is very much dependant on how you drive, but im still getting 50-55mpg regardless of how hard or easy i am with it.

No noticable increase in smoke on acceleration, and more importantly, it flew through the smoke test on the MOT.

Best value for money mod ive EVER done to a car.

I wouldnt use one of the cheap "chips" off the internet.
I use the term "chip" losely as it is a resistor in a box that tricks your car into thinking its running really cold so it ups the fueling all the time NOT GOOD

If you get a proper re-map on the other hand then it adjusts the parameters on the cars ECU so it will still rev smoothly and cleanly. if you drive like you did before, you should get as good if not better MPG.

It is the torque on turbo diesels, my little ibiza TDI is now running about 200bhp and 300lbs and it is an animal on boost to be fair.

if you have it remapped by someone good i/e http://www.evolutionchips.com/
you will get extra performance, and if you dont change your driving style, you will save up to 20% on fuel costs, all cars are different, but on average it is a extra 100 miles to a tank of fuel.these remaps do pay for themselves.

will adding a chip to a 56 plate L200 2500 TDi effect the warrenty i.e if the engine did fail and i removed the chip, could mitsi dealer tell it had been played about with.

do you have to cut and join wires to fit the chip or is it 'plug in'??

Those are conservative figures too mate and normally make considerably more.

Yes, when you have an extra 50+ftlb from very low revs you notice it as a huge difference, its like night and day. Read more about TD tuining here:

Also what is the real world fuel saving when been driven sensibly, do the diesiel chips actually return better mpg
Generally speaking our HDi customers report around 10-15% improvement in fuel economy when driving in a like for like manner. These savings can be worked out here and dont forget I am so confident you will get a fuel economy improvement that I give you a money back guarantee on it.

Also, you had a 7 day no quibble trial period, so if your unsure, just get it doen and evaluate its worth yourself mate. All of our installers honour that trial period so its a no risk purchase.

Far from it Phil, the modern Turbo Diesel is a far more complex vehicle to tune that people realise. generally speaking we would be looking to adjust fuel, boost, torque limiting and smoke limiting maps in a standard remap.

If its the non 16V then it can be done but its an EPROM change which most installers wont tackle, but the ECU can be processed via your local installer or you can bring it to us direct.

Stu with the clio 182 chip does it smooth out the power delivery or does it still have the step in power around 5K.

I would recomend a remap from MSD to anyone. Me and a friend expected his Mondeo TDCi to be faster, but not that much faster. He also got better MPG too which is always a bonus. I had a petrol with similair power and we used to be even until he would pass me at around 90mph. Once his had been remapped he would pass me in first and be gone.

Benni.

Anyone who is considering getting there diesel mapped, do it, you wont regret it.

First thing i did to my Bora when i got it was whack the Genius software on.

Deffo noticable difference in the way the car drives, holds the power alot more at the top end, bigger punch. Also better fuel economy when driven normally, so win win.

It made 173bhp and 311lb/ft on the dyno aswell, got to love the silly amounts of torque!

Vauxhall / Opel Astra G
Model Year: 1998-2004
Engine Type: Diesel-Turbo
Engine Size: 1.7L 16v DTi 75 BHP Model
BHP Increase: 25
Torque Increase (NM): 30

If the 16v one, if 8v then it's still an Astra G (Bobby should be able to remap either of them):

Vauxhall / Opel Astra G
Model Year: 1998-2004
Engine Type: Diesel-Turbo
Engine Size: 1.7L 8v TDi 68 BHP Model
BHP Increase: 30

no probs mate, you can also tell them what type of remap you want.i/e
all out power regardless of economy
all out economy and no extra power
or a compromise of both power and economy.

You mean whack an Evolution Chip on it using your Genius programmer.

That was like saying you whacked on a "Snap on" Starter Motor.
