Lightbulb Painting the Underside of the Escos ??

Need some help, i am trying to decided how to go about it.

I was initially thinking just painting it all with Black Hammerite Smooth as it was a easier option.

But looking thru the threads it would prob look better painted in Mallard Green.

Now as i know sod all about painting using a air gun ( i do have a compressor and gun, but never used it ..lol )

What would i need for the job ??? and how much does paint cost ??

Ta.....

You can use a brush too. I've seen undersides painted with brush and it looks good

well I'm no guru, but I know it's been done. Think it comes to the mixing of the paint.

I would love to know exactly what gear to use. I am currently looking at buying a compressor and spray gear to do the underside of mine and to repaint my sills once I have done a bit of welding on them...... So many compressors and equipment to chose between.

Is it just a 2k pack paint and paint over the stone chip gear.

wouldnt you have to rub it back to metal so it smooth or just paint over the under sealer

I know you can get types of underseal you can paint. Best option if you are going to actually drive the car in my opinion as you still have good chip protection!

I was really just going to clean the under side or dirt and debris and then do two
coats of the hammerite over the exising ford stone chip.

I am not going for concours, just want a decent look and some added protection.

depends how you want it

hammerite is ok, but you will not be able to paint over it so this would need to all come off for what you have done

but the basis is simple alls you need is a compressor and gun

with mine i cleaned the hole underside using a hard brush and panel wipe and it comes up looking factory

then for awkard places i used some metal wire wheels on drills etc, and i just went across the rest of teh car to get some form of key

once all ready mask the entire car, all holes inside the car etc, everywhere you dont want paint to go

stonechip i used the hammerite stone chip in a schultz can as this can be painted over and leaves a rubber texture

once that was dry o just used normal 2 pac paint, i went down a local paint suppliers and got 2 litres of mallard green with the colour code i gave them, thinners and actiavators, also some laquer

you will also need a mixing rule and some plastic cups, mixing the paint is very easy as you go by the numbers on the rule

make sure you have a very very good mask, i bought mine frommachine mart with filters for 2 pac but still after half way through painting the filters were failing and i started to get very high, fumes are a killer especially laquering and you do not want to breath laquer in, if you think about what it does to cars paint when it sets think what it does inside you lol

other than that paint, then laquer, obviously wants paint dry lol

I think i am going to go down the hammerite route, two coats, 1 with a brush, second with a roller.

Scotch the underside up first.

i presume these will do the job ??

mallard is fine applied by brush, get the floor cleaned down and free of any crap then use an etch or oxide primer to the bare bits, prime it all (i found stonechip stays sticky on the under seal) then use 2k paint its not dear and will look way better than hammerite, you will need to lacquer it after u put the mallard basecoat on
