is there any reason why you couldnt use an old calor gas bottle as a secondary air reciever for a compressor? does anyone know the pressure limit for the bottles?
Fittings are no problem as they are the kinda thing we use in work all the time.
i know it would take ages for a small compressor to fill one, but when it does, it should last a fair while.

 

Yeah no reason why not, a mate's dad built a compressor with an old gas bottle, has been working perfectly for years. The nitrogen cylinders we use at work contain 1500psi, so i should imagine a gas cylinder would be able to take the same, but DONT quote me on that when it all goes horribly wrong

 

Also, don't forget to add a tank drain to drain the moisture from the tank. If not it will rust from the inside out, and it aint gonna be pretty when the rust decides to meet the outside

 

firstly you need to know the maximum working pressure and the safe working pressure.

if the pressure you need exceeds the S.W.P. then no....when a cylinder blows,its like a bomb,compressed air is far more dangerous than most people realise.

also you need to filter the moisture out as well as this causes corrosion.
