Default any glaziers here?new window pane cost?

basically, had a few beers last night,in with the mrs and had some small candles by the window, all very romantic etc...
UNTIL........somehow all the candles sort of joined forces to make a MENTAL huge fire next to the window!!!so after eventually putting it out we had to repaint the window sill etc but one of the panes in the window has broken!!!its a 4 pane window and only one pane is broken, its about 12-14" wide by about 18-20" tall, and is just clear glass, any idea of costs involved etc..?i REALLY dont want to get the mrs mother involved (her mum owns the house and she rents it) as the she HATES me with a passion!so i need to pay for this myself!please help!

Just what i would have said as i am in the trade. Size you want will be from an offcut of 4mm float.
The fitting will cost as it involves whats called a "Hack out" which is to Hack out all the old Putty and "wet glaze" the new pain in.
Just about all Decent Double Glazing Co's have a Glazing section if it has a shop front just dont go to any of the big Companys, Keep it Local and the price will sensible and should be able to quote you if you give them the size and let them know its a Hack out and wet glaze in.
Measure from the bead to bead and minus 5 mm.
The Glass thickness will either be 3 or 4mm depending on its age

cant you just do it yourself? find the local glass place, get a peice cut and grab some putty, take the old glass out and remove the old putty place the new bit in and re-putty, would be cheaper.

as above, it'll be 4mm float glass which will cost bugger all plus £3 for a small tub of putty. Its not rocked science, be hell of alot cheaper than a glazier matey
