Default Spyware on my PC

I keep getting a Windows antivirus 2009 update window popping up on my PC saying I have Spyware on it and I need to download the above title then it directs me to a page where I have to buy it, whats going on is it legitimate Windows product or a scam. AOL Spyware cant find anything but my computer has shut down twice with "SPYWARE MONSTER FX" on screen

Is there a free Spyware program that will sort my PC or do I have to stump up the cash? Which are recommended please?

Definately don't be buying that, that is spamware to begin with!
Run some online free scanners

http://trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conten...d=home_scanner
http://www.spywareguide.com/onlinescan.php
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

etc

Download this http://www.filehippo.com/download_sp...earch_destroy/ then update it and run it.

Also id go to this site and do a free scan http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ will take maybe 30mins but just leave it and it will most likely find some crap and you can just delete it, it does work as ive used it myself.

Also what anti virus are you running?

I remember having exactly the same crap on my PC.

Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware got rid of it, easily.

I had that on a laptop at work and it's actually a virus that is a fake antivirus. I removed it but it still kept coming back on bootup until I found where it was starting up and removed it from there too. I used ccleaner to disable then delete it on boot.
