Default heat wrapping

is it any benefit to heat wrap the down pipe and front section of the exhaust on a 4x4 cossie?
thought about doing to mine while its off but wasnt sure. also is it true that if you wrap the manifolds they crack? this is the biggest reason i havent bothered with the stuff but wasnt sure if its correct or not.
i know there is obvious drops in temps after doing the manifold but are you doing more damage by it cracking and blowing rather than a bit of heat?

i've heard all different sotries about cracking etc also. but on my rst its been fine so far, and with me running a standard bonnet, it also makes quite a difference. i was told that if you wrap the exhaust it makes it pop and flame out of the back more. if this is true, i'm gonna do mine just for that reason

you've gotta have some perks flamer kits are gay, but flames on a gearchange are cool.
well like i said i run a standard bonnet on my orion still and the underbonnet temps are really good. compared to my mates' rst's with vented bonets and non wrapped manifolds theres still a difference.

Ive seen exhaust systems crack including manifolds , we only ceramic coat our systems as this has proven to us to be alot better

dave, i know thats the best way and i will probaly go that way at a later date but im still having to spend money sorting other bits and im skint.so thought wrapping the down pipe would be a good idea as its cheap for now.

on a side note, mad evo 4. how has a stainless exhaust cracked due to it? never heard of that and didnt think it would.

Shame Neil, No news on the issue then?

If you heat wrap it, soak it in water first, helps keep the fibres together and you wont itch
