Default Computer Peeps Plz Help.. New XP Install Q.

Morning All,

I don't know if anyone will be able to help but here goes....

I last night run a fresh install on another computer of XP Pro overighting XP Home,

The Fresh install went fine and all steps completed without errors, the problem i have is when the install screen gets to 100% and the comp. restarts i get my normal boot up order untill after the Windows XP screen where it shows it loading ( Windows XP Screen with moving curser underneath) and then it should ask me to Log in etc, or just load to the desktop ( as ive not set any user accounts, as ive not been asked to) It hangs on a black screen and wont go any further ( Ive waited for ages and still nothing happens ) ???

I can boot in safe mode and the new install looks like its worked, but i just cant get it to load windows normally ???

Apologies if you cant understand what i mean its a bit hard to explain, but if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated,

Thanks Again

Adi

Sounds like it is having a problem with some hardware that it isnt loading in safe mode. Could be graphics card, network card etc

Try running a windows repair first see if it sorts it.

Tried that mate doesn't work ??? same shit..

Did have problems where when trying to repair it couldn't find certain files on the disk to do the repair, so tried with just skipping that file ??

Not a particularly good idea. Did it install into the same directory as the previous version?

i would suggest re-doing it but delete the partitions and format the drive then install window.

That is the best way of doing it.

As said, remove the partition on the C: drive, format in with NTFS file system and then it should load through. Then you will possibly need to install the drivers for you graphics card, onboard lan if you have it, and probably your sound so let's hope you can get on the net and know what you're looking for when it's done
