thankfully the time has come to change my phone, so i can finally get rid of this sony k850, historically i am a bit of a Nokia fan and have really regretted moving away from the brand, for this reason i am very tempted with the N96, the missus has a N95 and i think its fantastic BUT my sister has an iphone which also seems very good, but maybe only for the novilty factor?
What are your views on these two phones and are there any others i should be considering?

I have an iphone and love it!! it just works soooo well!
And i keep adding stuff to it all of the time to keep me amused! I've had an N95 and the N96 just wasn't special enough!
Internet Browsing is great
Dynlicious is a great little APP and there's endless stuff that it'll do!

In my opinion iphones are crap. Good as a 'tool' but as a phone its shite. Touchscreen takes ages and is very fiddley to write a text, although it has bluetooth you can't bluetooth pics etc to other phones, camera is only 2mp. N96 every time!!!!

The camera isn't as good as an N96 admittedly though.
Internet browsing is easy too IMO.
Personally a Qwerty keyboard suits me as i don't use text speak, and if you are a fast ish typer anyway then it's not a problem, i would take your bet
The screen works brilliantly, i have an air hockey game and a few others that you just wouldn't be able to play on another phone.....and the functions all work perfectly well!
I do wish i could send media messages though, and bluetooth was compatible with other phones, but i can live with it!
I am not saying that the touchscreen is shit, as it does work, however a full qwerty keyboard on less than half of the screen is very fiddley unless you have fingers the size of benni's cock.

"dos the bluetooth work in cars etc on the iphone?"
Mine works alot better on my Mrs in car Parrot than her silver N95. The N95 doesn't show contacts, etc and everyother phone inc. IPhone does.
My Mrs tried a Blackberry Storm and what a piece of shit that was! She took it back after 24hours. The internet was slow, you have to press the screen till it clicks (Not genuine touch screen, more press screen) and everything looked like it was written in MS Dos, except the front screen.
The IPhone is brilliant at everything it does. The only thing I miss is not sending multimedia messages, but I and many others can and do live with it! The keyboard is a bit small for people with big fingers, but you get used to it and rarely type the wrong letter. Go for the IPhone

Got my first nseries phone last month(n95 8gig) and its been flawless, battery is fine aswell, i can get 3 days if im not using it every second of the day, 2 days if im using it as normal, but i can handle that seeing as the phone is like a tiny pc which can do everything
And net browsing on wi fi i can do with my eyes closed, its literally 2 button presses and i can be on this site in about 20seconds.
Its also a pretty decent phone aswell, it really does do everything, and not only that, it does everything WELL
I wouldnt get a iphone, its not ticking all the boxes really

My Iphone is in about 300 bits in my kitchen drawer as i hated it so much. So my advice, the N96
I agree with the comments above about taking too long to text. Web browsing is alright, camera is crap. Bit of a novelty in my opinion. Bit too hyped up by internet geeks who want their phone to be a computer more than a phone.
Personally i now have a Sony Ericsson. Makes phone calls, sends text messages and has a decent camera. Shouldnt need much else from a phone

Thats enough bigging up for now, ive done it on every " i need a new phone" thread recently
rightly so though No i dont use the camera that much, but i did purely to see what it was like and its much better on the n95, colours seem more true, and sharper especially on distance shots.
Speaker problems? the sound is fantastic on my 8gig, best sound ive ever heard from a mobile phone.
Im not just saying that either, ive had a fair few phones
yeah my point exactly, it does everything, and if you think it cant do something then its very likely theres something you can download to make it work
I'd be lost without my iphone now,
having internet wherever you go is awesome, can't beat it really.
Have my music/podcasts/videos on there which is great in the gym - much easier than carrying around another ipod/mp3 player all day too
Never really bothered with emails on phones before but got it all set up on the phone and i never check them on the pc now!
Ok the camera isn't great, but it's not that often i use it anyway.
Would definitely take a look at the iphone, especially with the appstore the possibilities are endless! So many new applications all the time, everything you could think of
Definitely wouldn't swap mine for anything else at the moment, as for the touch screen once you get used to it it's great, I bet i could text just as fast on this as i could on a normal phone. Bit weird to start but it's great once you've used it for a bit

camera is only 2mega pixels but it takes fecking top quality pics for a 2mp camera.
txting is different but after a couple of txts you're used to it, i'd say it was actually quicker than the old way.
best thing is the different apps, speed camera warnings, games, translators anything you could want.App called handbrake lets you put films from dvd on your iphone, handy when on train etc
tinternet is fast with 3g but just as quick as my laptop when it uses the wireless broadband in the house.
its quality mate get one and get all your music, films e-mail on the go
