Left some 2k in mine and its kinda scrap now
So i'm looking around for a cheap usable replacement. What's the advantages/disadvantages between a suction and a gravity fed gun? Also, is there any extra gun requirements when using 2k? I never had any trouble running 2k through my old gun but as I know no better to compare with, it kinda makes sense to ask those in know
Also, noticed some dodgy looking electric guns??? These worth thinking about or are they in the same league as electric superchargers?
Cheers,
Stu.

There is no right or wrong gun, its more what you prefer, i use suction mostly as its just easier to get the paint in to and "feels" better, but i use a gravity for the roof as there is less chance of drips and scraping the gun on the roof.
I take it buy your description you dont care too much for your tools, cleaning your tools is one of the most important things you can do.
Im also assuming you arnt using an air fed mask? when you should be for 2k, but thats your problem if your not!
Id say as your too lazy to even clean your gun then just go buy a cheap and cheerful from machine mart of screw fix and throw it away when your done

Sorry just annoys me when people dont look after their tools.
Wastes time and money, and can ruin the next job you come to.
The amount of tools ive lent to guys on site, or mates who you trust and they come back broken!!
was more positive critcism i was giving

Aint I just
Sorry that I didnt clean the gun, tbh I couldnt be arsed as when I last used it I had had enough of the job I was on so thought fuck it and chucked it in the garage corner and let my works paint shop do it for me
.....if it was one of my trade tools (mechanic with just short of 20k worth of top kit) then I would have treated it like one of those bits of kit ie with care insted of treating it like the disposable tool it was (it came free with me compressor ffs). Air fed mask was on loan from a friend last job I did in 2k...to which, you'll be glad to hear, I fully cleaned prior to its return. In reference to 'christ how many times has this come up' etc....going by the 'similar' threads bit at the bottom I'd say it hasnt come up for 18mnths, sorry if my memory is lacking

TBH mate I was only looking to spend around Ł50 for a gun, I only do little bits that aint really shown or just little bits that need dusting after a repair. Any more and it goes in the paint shop....dont enjoy painting at all, find it very frustrating and slow as a result of being crap at it
Will look into hvlp then, cheers fella Aint I just

we use the devillbiss gti's at work. bloody good gun's. our apprentice left laquer in his one for 2 week's when he was away at collage. we all had a laugh about that. but the jammy bugger took it home an managed to get it cleaned out. still seemed to work ok after it aswell.

matt, yes, try feeding high volume from a normal run of the mill home compressor.... you empty the tank in seconds lol
when i converted over to hvlp, we even used larger bore airlines etc

This is normaly just bits and bobs.I'm buggered on that front then
Cant remember the lung capacity of my compressor but it aint exactly a big-un. Have another friend with a bloody big compressor in his home workshop round the corner...wonder if he wants to chip in on a decent spray gun...hmmmm

I briefly worked as an MOT tester for a little place in Ashby some years ago, they officialy went into liquidation as I was half way through a MOT, was told to finish the test then go home. Later that afternoon the owners of SAS were knocking on my parents door, they gave me a load of shit for not warning them that said place was going under?! Like I was to know that they owed SAS a fair few grand and also what the fuck has to do with me anyhows?
Went in SAS a few weeks later and they point blank refused me trade...not been back since.

i have the gold sealey gun as my weapon of choice when it comes to primmer and infact i was using it today on a volvo tractor unit im repairing but for actual painting i like using suction feed guns

I bought one of these to do a few odd jobs with and found it so good I ended up doing whole panels inc 2k laquer finishes - lovely atomisation and spray pattern

ran it of a 3hp 50 litre 240v home compressor as well no problem
