changed the auxilary belt at the weekend as it had snapped, all seemed ok untill this morning when i got in the car and had a funny squealing noise which i can only asume its the tensioner, can this part be changed?
I have also noticed after driving and becoming stationary it idles a little higher than usual for a couple of seconds, then drop, any ideas whats causing this as it didnt do it priior to changing the belt.

Graham goodes changed my aux belt, when i took my car for service, mine started squealing ,took it back and was told its the belt, quite a common problem they said.i have changed it myself twice since and it still does it,i even changed tensioner,no joy, bought a can of belt dreessing, that stops it squealing.
doubt its the tensioner.
most likey poor quality rubber in the belt or even some sort of contamination.
As suggested a belt dressing is often the only cure.
You can get away with using WD40, but its not ideal and wont stop the squeak for long.
proper belt dressing has silicone in it i think. Ive used it lots of times on landrovers, its a common fault when u replace the fan belt on them.
As for the idle issue? only thing related to the belt is its either too loose or tight, cant be any other reason i dont think.

As said check the tension, too loose or too tight will cause a squeak, if not then try some belt dressing.

the tensioner goes directly onto the block iirc, the belt was a brand new one, so would imagine its some crap on the actual pullies if anything.
i'll get some of that belt dressing stuff and go from there, thanks for the offer though LLoyd
