Default Buying a shell with V5 - advice needed

If I buy, for example, an EsCos shell with V5 that is HPI clear (a car thats been broken not a write off) then fit a different size/type of motor (6.0 V12) midmounted in the shell to a RWD transaxle do I have to have the car inspected or do I just alter the details on the logbook and send it off to the DVLA?

just change the details and ie engine number, capacity etc, and you will get the v5 back all sorted, I did this with my 100E,
If you ask too many questions to them, you may have to go down the points system to keep the id,think you need 8 points to keep the id, 5 for the shell then it's 3 points each for the front and rear axels engine ,trans etc.

so tell them the min they need to know!

LOL, Cheers Steve
Treat th DVLA like mushrooms....Keep them in the dark and feed them shit!
Whats the legal standpoint though?
The engine is secondhand, legit with receipt (even has a plaque on it with date it was assembled and name of the guy who built it!)
The gearbox will be brand new
All susp brand new
Secondhand braking system (minty, mint tho)
Rads/coolers/exhaust all new/bespoke

Ideally I want a pre '93 shell so still MOT legal with no CAT.

It should be SVA'd , as it will be a radically altered monocoque which will then result in a Q plate.

But as above just notify engine change and see what happens.

My Focus V.5 says 5000cc as the engine size.

If EITHER the engine or the Shell are pre 93 then no CAT test.

Mine is year 2000 shell with 1988 engine = no CAT test.

SVA doesn't automatically mean a Q plate - seemingly I'm getting an age-related plate but I used a brand new shell.

In your circumstances I'd just record an engine change.
