Default What is your Gift??

Right I'm gonna tell you a short story and I'd like you to share your's.

What is your gift???? We all have them (try to keep it clean!!)

My gift is music. When I was younger I could literally pick up an instrument and play it, regardless of what it was or how complex it was to play.

I remember being at first School and going to join the 'band' and the music teacher asked me to play a tune so I could 'prove' that I could play an instrument. I recited a tune for her and then she asked me to play a note. If I remember correctly she asked me to play an A. I told her I didn't know what an A was, then she asked me if I couldn't read music how did I know how to play an instrument!!

I don't know how I knew but I could just play music without reading from a score. It's like I could hear a tune and then repeat it no matter what instrument I played.

So that's my gift, fair enough it won't help me in life but what's your gift??

Also this isn't a gift but it's something I've learned which I think is mint. I can touch type, I've got all my RSA certs and I can type 80 wpm which is really good with accuracy too!!

It's probably one of the best skills that I left school with

It's funny but Kai (my son) is the same, he remembers things, the little details of things that I couldn't possibly remember. I don't know if it's youth or a gift but he has such a good memory. It's strange though because he is dyslexic, he can read a word on one page and then a couple of pages later the same word will appear and hasn't got a clue what it says, very strange!!

I've been told by numerous people I am gifted at making people laugh. Whenever I go the pub, by the end of the night the whole pub is around my table. I always get embaressed and go home. I'm not sure if it's a gift, more like the clown of the pub.

My dad is Gifted with words, he can spell anything and I mean anything. He can even say all words backwards, including the long one Supercalla...

Dunno if its a gift or not, but if i walk past a room, I can tell if there is a big item of electrical equipment on, for example a tv or an amplifier or something. Dunno how, I can just feel it, could be the magnetic field or something it gives off?

I can also hear transformers when they are plugged in. Like for example now i can hear the transformer for my laptop whistling even with the TV switched on and the volume is up. Everybody who asks me about it, only a few of them can hear it if they put it straight to their ear, yet at the moment it is on the floor at the other end of the sofa, and the telly is about 5ft away from me, and i can hear it whistling away clear as day. I cannot sleep with the electric toothbrush in the en suite plugged in, as the noise drives me mad!

Walking past the tellys in currys can be a fucking nightmare sometimes

I would have said you were talking absolute bollocks but i'm the same. Can tell if a TV/monitor etc is turned on in a room with the door shut etc never noticed a thing with transformers though. I don't know if i'd class it as a gift though.

Same as you Claire, music. I know absolutely feck all about the guitar, and I mean feck all - I don't know where notes are on it (other than the open string's being EADGBE - and I had to double check that before typing it!) but I can mimic virtually everything I hear! I understand how notes relate to each other, what notes go and what don't, but put a guitar in my hands I can't "see" it on the fretboard like my friend (a proper trained guitarist) can. He can see chord patterns and note progression, and I just see, well, spaces lol. It's hard to explain. But give me a few attempts and I'll be able to play back something I've heard - it took me a day or two to learn the whole of Rage Against The Machine's debut album!

Drums is my specialist area, and again, I can't read drum notation (I just didn't bother learning, cos by the time I started taking lessons, I'd already been playing live on the circuit for a year!) but can listen to virtually anything once or twice and then be able to play it.

Not trying to sound big-headed or anything, but I just find it, I dunno, easy I guess....
