as the post says i wanna change the oil in my box and not sure what one to use for old box with a bit of a whine, ie maybe use something a bit thicker?

 

mt75 gear oil for the box and atm for the transfer box

fully synthetic 75/90 for every drivetrain component on the 4x4, diffs, gearbox and transfer box.

the shitty std stuff turns to piss with the heat of anything other than a std car.

as recommended and used by most gearbox people like bara,

make sure its FULLY synthetic though....


i used it for over 70k miles and its sooooooo much better...

 

I changed my oils to Miller's TRX Synth 75w-90 and the gear change is now a lot worse than with the old crappy oil. At times, it can't even get into gear while stationary. Gets slightly better when the car warms up. What is better full synth oil to use? Or just this MT75 oil https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-147606-...ion-fluid.aspx has anyone tried it?

 

Are you gear stick cradle bushes in good condition? If these are worn it can cause poor gear selection.

I've used 75/90 in my box for years.

 

I have changed them to poly versions prior to installing gearbox to the car, along with new 75w90 oil. The old bushes were perished. Maybe I'll check the gear selector ball joint for any play and try the gear selection again now when weather is warmer. I was about to order Fuchs Syn 5 75W-90 oil as this should be good, oil but Opieoils didn't have any right now.
