Default bmw e30 3.6 td project

thought id post my project in here. putting a 3.6 td marine vm engine in my e30. used gearbox from bmw custom fit to vm bellhousing. converted from auto to manual box. car and engine i had anyway. proper budget build spent £100 so far on machining and a manual fuel pressure reg.

fitted bmw flywheel where torque converter was.

fitted getrag box to original vm bellhousing with adapter plates.

had to move sump pan as it fouled on crossmember.

engine mounts for new engine below.

relocated pick up pipe for altered sump.

havnt been on a proper drive yet. hopefully saturday as ive now got power steering and brakes working. ive got about 1/3 mile stretch i can run up and down.

engine is tuneable easily. its got external wastegate so easy to up the boost just needs an intercooler. and its an old bosch diesel pump easy to turn fuel up.

thats ace! i love a bit of imagination and improvisation, shows you dont have to spend a fortune to have a laugh. i run a 205 1.9 tdi (bosch pump), six speed gearbox, as my daily driver, ive got the wastegate clamped closed and have messed with the pump so it makes 22 psi lol. bit black though!
