Default Suspension ??

purchasing a 3dr at the weekend - looking change the suspension but not sure what to go with, an adjustable shock and spring or a coilover kit - have used both in the past on other cars but wondering what suits the sierra best.

cheers

Ben.

Depends what you want to do, and how hard you like the ride, coilovers from avo as I have are bloody hard but just as I like, I do miss the comfy bit sometimes though.
Koni adjusties on hardest setting are still extrememly comfy with chassis dynamic springs.

cheers for the reply lads - like the stiff suspension most of the time but want to have the option to run if soft - do you think that coilovers suit the car better than a shock and spring set up in terms of handling - had a look into Avos - look good.

cheers

im not a fan of the cheaper coil over kits avo. Gaz etc i run Koni's with Ahmed springs and cannot rate them highly enough for a road car, personally i would only use coil overs on track cars and then they wouldnt be the £400 ones

Depends on what you want, it's a very subjective thing what soft is to one person is not the same to the next, try to blag a ride in a car with each if you can.
Avo coilovers will run rings around koni on grip, but not in comfort terms, where the koni are vastly better, I find them too soft for me even on hardest setting, a avo coilover is cheaper to rebuild than but a koni if needed, my last pair cost me £66 all in posted back, and that included pick up cost for the pair.
If people don't want to use the "cheaper" avo I have no doubt they have tried the more expensive £1500 a corner ones from avo with remote reservoirs etc, saying that thrust 2 was on SPAX shocks, don't think they are an off the shelf fitment though!!
