Hi guys i am new to this forum and have a question for you? I own a 99 plate escort turbo diesal van and this evening i have borrowed my mates escort turbo diesel car on a n plate. I could'nt beleive the difference in performance his car pulls like a train compared to my van. Is this due to my van not having the intercooler do you think? Ohh and before you say it the van is empty 99% of the time so its not lugging weight around. Any ideas guys???

 

could even be the solinoid valve on the pump is seized half shut all the time and not openin fully

 

Don't think its a problem with your motor mate, at least autotrader quote the 1800tdi in a escort ghia at 90bhp, compared to the same td lump in the van at 75bhp. Didn't think a little I/C would make that much difference... ford've probably done other work to it too.

 

the TDI has a better turbo and fuel pump over the TD also

 

I believe that the van weights slightly more, If you wanted to atempt to put the intercooler on the van i have a setup from another td engine i pulled out of te new car.
