how much would it affect my car if the cam timing is slighty out? I've a piper 285t2 cam and i'm not too sure if its timed exactly right.
Im new to the turbo scene but through experience i know that if the cam timing is a one or two degrees out its just a power loss but any more could result in overheating or even failuer
its nt good if its out, your engine will not run right ay all, performance goes down, fuel consumption is higher, engine speeds are affected. The reason i know is when ibought my turbo i knew it wasnt running right at all, then i bought a new timing belt kit including the tensioner now it runs spot on no problems at all.
Do you have the Piper adjustable vernier pulley if not get one so you can adjust the timing correctly and obtain the best performace from your cam ive got one on mine. They cost around 80 quid. If the timing is slightly out it will probaly run a bit rough or possibly could cause some damage to the engine. All the best
