Default Ignition switch ???

Hi,
Some swine attemped to nick my bro's 3dr a while back and ran off with the ignition switch. My bro is working away at the moment so I am trying to find an ignition switch for him.
Problem is, despite having the part no. Ford dealers can no longer get this part and of the six breakers I e-mailed only two replied to say they don't have one either.

All that is required is the switch itself which is the little thing at the bottom end of the barrel I believe. The part no. is 85BB11572DA (or CA at the end for no electric aerial)

Does anyone have one they want to sell, or know of an alternative part that would be available ?????

Thanks !!!!

BTW, Nick500, It was a bit of a trek for him but Norman was chuffed to bits with the doors, they're in at the sprayers just now

if you just need the switch bit, you just need one from any sierra of the same age. it just screws on to the ignition barrel, has a short length of 3 or 4 wires and a connector. later sierra's had a different connector, but i think you'll be alright with anything before 1990.

Iv'e got the same problem, want to renew my ignition switch but Ford don't list one for a 3dr anymore, you can get the one for a Saph but then your electric aerial won't work when switch the ignition on & off as 3dr ones have an extra wire.

Simon.

Thanks for the replies.

ForeigneRS, that's the thing, I think the part numbers ARE just for a 3dr Sierra switch, but dealers are telling me that they can't get them anymore from Ford. No longer available.

Simon, Are you sure a Sapphire switch would fit/do the job ??? I don't think my brother's too fussed about the leccy aerial so that would be ideal. Anyone any idea on a part number or anything??

Cheers !!

a sapphire switch will do the job. the electric aerial can be switched by your stereo (if it's not the std ford crap)?
