Default What Phone/Contract?

Had some problems with Orange so they have agreed to a mutual termination as they couldnt provide an acceptable signal at my home address any longer.

So what new phone should i go for?
And what Service Providers are offering the best deals at the moment?

Cheers

ok not too sure about the best deals, but can i ask what happened with your orange contract? two of my flatmates have realised they haven't got orange signal in our new house! real pain for them, they have about 1 bar in a certain place in the kitchen but that's about it.
How hard was it to get your contract terminated? Can't imagine its very easy, but i think not having signal is starting to drive my mates mad!
cheers

I've been with orange for 3/4 years, all has been fine with them, customer services are good, staff are decent and helpful, but about 5 months ago, my phone suddenly got 0 bars signal at my home address, but worked fine elsewhere.

Phoned them, got some usual shit about a transmitter error, will be fixed in x days. EVENTUALLY spoke to a really decent guy who physically checked on his computer and realised that the 3 closest transmitters to my house are down and decomissioned for up to 9-12months

So this guy was quality and wrote a massive memo on the orange system that his colleagues can see, then told me to phone retentions department and ask to have a termination free of charge, a bit of too-ing and fro-ing between bosses etc and they agreed to terminate for me.

Took 5/6months of calling every week. Sorted now though, Orange cust services were top notch in my opinion

Got a Samsung Omnia the other month after I'd had my N95 for over a year and I'm really liking it... its really easy to use, even if you've got big fingers, cause you can change the text keyboard to a 'normal' keypad style. It runs a Windows Style operating system and has got a lot of features that I've not even tried yet, but basic things like screen, camera, texting, phonebook, web browsing, calling etc is all fine so far.

I had a brief look around and like the T-Mobile advert on tv says, I couldn't find more minutes for Ł30 a month. I also get unlimited texts and for a fiver a month I get unlimited web browsing too.

Cheers,
Grant

I tried to cancel my Orange phone because I had no service at my house, place of work or my workshop - they said words to the effect of 'tough shit - we're not obliged to provide service'

My Orange contract runs out this month......... ooooooooh I can't wait to move to someone else. Most likely t-mobile or O2.

I got that too - they said "They are not obliged to provide service within a permanent structure" (i.e. my house!) and "if i went out doors i would have a signal"

Cheeky cunts, i'd never had a problem and all of a sudden one day it was fucked!

Possibly the N96, Blackberry Bold or the Samsung Omnia or Tocco - Need to do some research i think.

alot of new houses mate have lots of kingspan use, especially timberframe etc. The metalic sheet seems to block the signals, we have noticed it on a few new builds, full bar outside, go in and its all gone etc.
