Just heard they are going to teach it at 5yrs WTF!!

Are they retarded, do they not think it would be better to teach it at say 12, but in more detail, teach safe sex etc.

Ours was like a science lesson lol!!!

Maybe some group talks, with very open frank discussion on all aspects of sex to educate the kids. At that age they have a pretty good idea of what it is all about and some will be dabbling, so why not give them all the fact and get everything out in the open.

This IMO will help prevent teenage pregnancies.

Its not teaching 5 years how to shag or how a baby is formed.

Its EDUCATING children on the BASIC differences between boys and girls. And whats un-acceptable behaviour!

And FWIW I was first taught Sex Ed when I was 10 or 11. Some awful cartoon video. "When the man rubs his penis..." Put me right off sex for the next 40 years!

Dont think anyone I knew that age got pregnant. But conversely its not going to stop some slapper at 14 taking on half her mates.

 

Exactly!! Alot of people dont realise that a lot of abuse goes on for far too long because the child victim doesnt understand the boundarys and whats acceptable. Teaching kids this stuff wont STOP abuse but it MAY mean many more kids speak out the first time something happens so that the abuse does not go on for a long time.

Its the same thing with teaching "not to talk to strangers", unless they are taught then how will they know its potentially dangerous????

My point was not thinking that they are going to teach 5 year old to shag FFS it was stating that they should be looking to educate young teenagers about sex in a more detailed manner in school.

I do work for local authorities creating publications for teenagers about safe sex, from the group meeting with young teenage mums, it shocked me that the majority of them knew sod all about how you can get pregnant and relied on a load of myths and had little knowledge of std's etc.

Some of the stuff they believed was crazy, for example you can't get preggers if:
Your standing up during
You shower afterwards
it's your first time

The list goes on, and they though that sti's could only be caught of prostitutes and tramps.

This is material designed for clinics, youth centers etc, but really, this stuff should be compulsory in schools so that EVERY child is aware

 

should have proper sex ed basics from about age 10 as some girls are going through puberty that sort of time so of course all the hormones and desires will become "online". You want to catch them so that when kids have sexual urges, they already have the knowledge to be safe.

I know when i grew up the common myths also included:
AIDS is a gay persons disease
STD's are a poor country problem
cant get STD's through anal

 

I think 5 is just daft, maybe 8 or 9 yeah.
